Lo Fun Fact #1
"Lolita Files" is my real name. It is not a pen name, as incredible as that may seem. There are plenty of Files family members and people who have known me for years capable of validating this. As for the "Lolita" part, my mother named me after the movie based on Nabokov's book, although she saw or read neither. For as long as she lived, she had no idea there was anything sexual or seedy about being called "Lolita".
Lo Fun Fact #2
| I love fried chicken and fabulous shoes. If you ever want to get on my good side, send Popeye's or Mr. Chicken (my favorite spot in Cleveland) and a pair of
Christian Louboutins. |
Lo Fun Fact #3
Never show up unannounced or without a Pepsi (preferably Pepsi Jazz Caramel Cream). Better yet, how about not show up at all?
Lo Fun Fact #4
I hate the telephone. Don't get mad if I don't call you. I don't call anyone. Don't call me asking why I don't call. Just don't call, okay?
Lo Fun Fact #5
I love the internet!!! I love communicating through the internet!!! You can e-mail me and odds are I'll e-mail you right back (if I'm not in the middle of a major project). Makes up for my hangup about the phone, doesn't it? See, I'm not so bad after all!!!
Lo Fun Fact #6
I can't stand IMing. Please don't IM me. You will get the cold shoulder. I don't like giving people the cold shoulder, so please don't put me in that position.
Lo Fun Fact #7
I have four five six wonderful, slap-happy dogs, a bird (some kind of dove/pigeon mix), and a cat, all of whom I love to pieces. If you meet me and ask me about my dogs, bird, and cat, we'll be instant friends. If you meet me and ask me why the f*ck I have four five six dogs, a bird, and a cat, see the above fun fact for how I will respond. |

I am not watching the show but just saw that on the internet. I am happy for them but now I have another image to combat when I am trying to get my 16 year old to get an education instead of trying to perfect his flow. Damn!

You would have been proud of Three 6, Juan. They made it a real occasion, nothing to be ashamed of, and Taraji even got a little operatic at the end. And you should have seen them accepting the award. They THANKED THE ACADEMY!!! They THANKED THEIR MOTHERS!!! They only had to be bleeped one time. It was majorly cool. Ludacris introduced their performance and Latifah presented them with the award, so they were esconced in blackness.
The funniest part, however, was when Jon Stewart said, "I just want to point out the Oscar score: Martin Scorsese: Zero. Three 6 Mafia: One."
-
Thanks for the update, Lo. I am glad they didn't act a fool. I am happy for them for a number of reasons but mostly because they are doing them and getting paid for it.
By the way, Jon Stewart is funny as hell and yes, Scorses is a litlte oscar-deprived.

Oscar has been slapping Scorsese in the face with its d*ck for years. Tonight, them giving Three 6 Mafia the award was the equivalent of The Academy dragging their balls across Scorsese's face. (What's that called, Cort...'teabagging'?)

ROFL. Lo, you never fail to amaze me. Such a lady and such a . . . lady.

Okay, so everyone knows I was not a big fan of what I thought would happen tonight. But what an incredible surprise. Never would I have thought that I would use "class" and "Three 6 Mafia" in the same sentence! Their performance was terrific! I have to admit, when they came on stage, I took a deep breath, prepared not to breathe again until the show was over. But within two seconds, I took my first breath, within five seconds, I was on my feet, and by the end of the song, I was cheering.! And when they won the Oscar, I was yelling, "My n******!" (Okay, that last part is a lie, but tonight anything was possible.) The only thing - I forgot that if they won, they'd have to speak. At least Lo heard them thank the Academy and their mothers - I didn't understand a word they said. Still, this was great.

ROFL!!! Touche', Vickie!!! I was really proud of all of them, and Taraji was so classy. Remember when she sat at our table with us at the NAMIC Awards three years ago when you and I were presenters? So good to see her forging ahead in Hollywood.
-
first, i wanna say thanks lo, for your hard work for putting up your blog and allowing us to communicate and become closer together....
you know it's funny about the 3-6 set, the got "bleep" a couple of times, but you have to admit, the routines and choreography were tasteful. they took out "bitches" and used "witches" instead. but stewart killed me with that scorsese comment.
and it was true, the way three-six celebrated was how you're supposed to celebrate a win. hollerin' and screamin'... and the only ones to thank Jesus too. big ups to them. don't worry juan, your son will be okay. he's coming from good stock!....with flow.
-
Aw, Lance...you make a grown girl blush. I don't get to do that too often anymore. I'm just glad folks love to convene here. The more the merrier. The more diversity of folk and opinion the better. I love it. Kumbaya and all that!!!
-
hey vickie...i can see you now, dancin' to 3-6 spillin' yo likka....considering the comment of last week.....lol

I like Terrance version of the song from the movie. Ain't nothin better than leaving a coprorate meeting with VP's and Presidents in my expensive suit and fly ass shoes. Getting my ride and pumping the FLOW. Cause yau'll know it really is "Hard out here!" I hate i missed it, so thanks Lo for the details. I am so GLAD that it was unlike the Source Awards. Where we have to wear sunglasses and and a hoodie the next day out of embarrassment.
-
ROFL, LBoogie!! If it had been like The Source Awards, you know some shots would have been fired up in the Kodak Theater once Three Six's win was announced ("joy bucks" versus "beef bullets"). And I'm with you about going from suited-up to pimped-out once you leave a business setting and get in your ride. There's nothing like blasting some hip-hop on high to take the edge off the stiffness of a power-meeting (or to help you celebrate a successful one).
