The Lo Zone

A groovy place in cyberspace run by author Lolita Files. Come on in. Bring some Pepsi.

Lo Fun Fact #1
"Lolita Files" is my real name. It is not a pen name, as incredible as that may seem. There are plenty of Files family members and people who have known me for years capable of validating this. As for the "Lolita" part, my mother named me after the movie based on Nabokov's book, although she saw or read neither. To this day, she has no idea what a "Lolita" is.
Lo Fun Fact #2
I love fried chicken and fabulous shoes. If you ever want to get on my good side, send Popeye's or Mr. Chicken (my favorite spot in Cleveland) and a pair of Christian Louboutins.
Lo Fun Fact #3
Never show up unannounced or without a Pepsi (preferably Pepsi Jazz Caramel Cream). Better yet, how about not show up at all?
Lo Fun Fact #4
I hate the telephone. Don't get mad if I don't call you. I don't call anyone. Don't call me asking why I don't call. Just don't call, okay?
Lo Fun Fact #5
I love the internet!!! I love communicating through the internet!!! You can e-mail me and odds are I'll e-mail you right back (if I'm not in the middle of a major project). Makes up for my hangup about the phone, doesn't it? See, I'm not so bad after all!!!
Lo Fun Fact #6
I can't stand IMing. Please don't IM me. You will get the cold shoulder. I don't like giving people the cold shoulder, so please don't put me in that position.
Lo Fun Fact #7
I have four five six wonderful, slap-happy dogs, a bird (some kind of dove/pigeon mix), and a cat, all of whom I love to pieces. If you meet me and ask me about my dogs, bird, and cat, we'll be instant friends. If you meet me and ask me why the f*ck I have four five six dogs, a bird, and a cat, see the above fun fact for how I will respond.
Messin' Up A Good Thing
Wednesday, February 21, 2007
Why do women have to always fall in love and mess up a good thing?

Sound like fighting words, right? Well, this is the logic I was working with when I was a single lad. No matter what I told my prospective “friend” upfront, sooner or later they would want to change the rules of the game. Like a true player, I wasn’t having it. Revealing their feelings just meant that it was “time up” for them.

Before y'all start trippin' on Ole Rich, keep in mind, I was doing this when I was in my early twenties (I’m almost 40 now), so imagine my surprise when I was talking to a friend of mine long distance and she started laying this conversation down about how she was now digging on this dude that she started out with as just a “friend”, and she was wondering why he wouldn’t commit. I just shook my head, although she couldn’t see it through the phone, and replied “You may as well hang it up or dig in for the long haul. Dude sounds like me from back in the day, he’s not going to change game mid-stream.”

I eventually had to switch to a different conversation, because I could tell she was stuck on doing what she wanted. She was being a glutton for punishment, just because the loving was good. What a shame. So it got me to thinking, if she’s over 40, attractive and intelligent and g’ing for this type of behavior, how many sisters are out here doing the same thing? Inquiring minds want to know.

Rule #1 Believe what we say. If we say we want to just be friends, believe us. This line usually means we have at least one other sista we are doing also.

If ya'll ask the right questions, I might give you more. I'm already breaking the rules.

Game is to be sold not told, but since y'all my sista's I'm feeling pretty generous today.

You must have been praying, cause I was working out and heard a voice say God's law trumps Man's. Got to look out for my sista's I suppose.

So here goes. The playa sticks around as long as things work for him or as long as you allow him to come and go without provocation. The end is only inevitable when you decide it's not what you want to do anymore. So as far as he's concerned, you brought the bad feelings on yourself.

Here's the thing, and I hate to assume this about your case, but eight times out of ten the woman gives it up too quick in cases like this. The other twenty percent of the time, dude was just running game. Most dudes are going to try and get it, the question is will you give in. I know it's a double standard (he's free to hit early but you aren't), but the rules were set long before you got in the game.

This ought to be enough to take most of you through the rest of the year. Don't worry fella's, them knowing the game only makes you better men in the end, trust me on that one.

Theres that bitch game again...I swear if I see her in the mall....

I hear what you are saying Rich, chastity is the essential part of maintaining a long lasting true relationship, with commitment in check.

Its crazy cause Im learning this now in my thirties rather than earlier. A man is going to attempt to get as far as he can as fast as he can without commitment. its the power of the pussy that is going to either draw him or drive him away.

Can I borrow that line? I couldn't have said it better.

    Coochie to quick - peeyuuung!
    Coochie to slow - peeyuuung!
    Coochie just right- ahhhhh!

I've been MIA for a few days trying to meet a deadline (I did..whew). I'm trying to get caught up on my blog readings.

Rich, keep dropping knowledge on us sisters.

Lance, don't shut it down. Even if y'all reveal some more of the player secrets, I know you all got some that's still under lock & key.

    Share...share and share...lol

Hi guys! I've been gone for a minuet and I see this conversation is Off and Running...
My two cents is that women are emotional. no matter if the rules are written & posted on the headboard, we allow our feelings to take control. however men are into the challenge of getting the 'one' no one else can get. yeah,we have all heard or used the line of 'being friends' - its just part of the game.
